Embedded Software Engineer
Overview
Volvo Cars’ Central Software organisation in Gothenburg is expanding the team building the software-defined vehicle platform for the next generation of fully electric Volvos. You will develop production embedded software running on homogeneous ARM Cortex-A clusters handling domain fusion for body control, thermal management, and vehicle dynamics. The software stack runs on embedded Linux with a service-oriented architecture communicating over SOME/IP and DDS on automotive Ethernet backbone networks.
Work in a hybrid model from Volvo’s state-of-the-art Torslanda campus, collaborating with platform, cloud, and vehicle integration teams across Sweden and China. You will own critical software components through the full V-cycle — from system requirements through AUTOSAR-adaptive application development, SIL/HIL testing, and vehicle calibration. The role offers direct impact on Volvo’s safety-critical electric vehicle platforms shipping in 2027 and beyond.
Senior candidates should have 6+ years of embedded software experience with strong C++ modern practice, familiarity with embedded Linux and Yocto, and exposure to automotive communication protocols (CAN, SOME/IP, DDS). Knowledge of AUTOSAR Adaptive, ISO 26262 functional safety, or over-the-air update systems is highly valued. Volvo Cars offers a collaborative, safety-first engineering culture in one of Europe’s most livable cities.
