Senior Firmware Engineer
Overview
Tesla is looking for a Senior Firmware Engineer to join our Power Electronics team in Palo Alto. You will design, implement, and optimize embedded firmware for the inverters, DC-DC converters, and motor controllers that power every Tesla vehicle. This is a high-impact role where your code runs on millions of units in the field.
You will work with a large team of firmware, hardware, and systems engineers to deliver real-time control loops over CAN and private vehicle networks on ARM Cortex-R and Cortex-M platforms running FreeRTOS. Responsibilities include developing low-level drivers, state machines, fault handling, and calibration routines that meet stringent automotive safety and reliability standards.
The ideal candidate has 5+ years of embedded firmware experience, deep expertise in C and C++ for real-time systems, and familiarity with automotive communication protocols. Experience with motor control algorithms, power electronics, or ISO 26262 functional safety is a strong plus.
