Overview

Tesla’s Autopilot AI team is hiring a Senior Embedded Vision Engineer to work on the real-time perception stack powering Full Self-Driving. You will optimize camera sensor drivers, ISP pipelines, and neural network model inference on Tesla’s custom hardware platform. This is a high-impact role where your firmware decisions directly affect vehicle safety and driving behavior.

Your responsibilities span the full embedded vision stack: writing low-level I2C sensor drivers, tuning ISP parameters for HDR and low-light conditions, implementing GPU-accelerated pre-processing kernels, and collaborating with the AI team to reduce model latency on embedded NPUs. You’ll be working across embedded Linux and bare-metal environments on ARM and custom silicon architectures deployed in production vehicles today.

This is an onsite role based at Tesla’s Gigafactory Texas in Austin. The team operates with a high degree of ownership, fast iteration cycles, and direct exposure to vehicle-level integration. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of embedded experience, strong camera sensor knowledge, and a track record of shipping at scale.
