BLE Firmware Engineer
Overview
Sony’s Personal & Mobile Communications division in Tokyo is hiring a Senior BLE Firmware Engineer to build the wireless connectivity stack for next-generation wearable devices and true wireless audio products. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing Bluetooth LE firmware on ARM Cortex-M platforms running FreeRTOS, ensuring ultra-low-power operation and robust wireless performance.
You will own the full BLE firmware lifecycle including GATT profile development, connection event scheduling, power management, and coexistence handling with WiFi and other wireless technologies. Your work spans I2C and SPI sensor integration, audio codec control, and OTA firmware update subsystems. You will collaborate with teams in Japan and across Sony’s global R&D network to deliver products that ship to millions of consumers worldwide.
The ideal candidate has 5+ years of embedded firmware experience with deep expertise in Bluetooth LE protocol stack internals, strong C and C++ skills, and proven experience shipping consumer wireless products. Japanese language proficiency is beneficial but not required. Experience with audio processing, low-power design, and certification testing (Bluetooth SIG, CE, FCC) is a strong plus.
