IoT Firmware Engineer
Overview
Samsung’s SmartThings IoT platform team in San Jose is looking for an IoT Firmware Engineer to build the wireless firmware that powers Samsung’s smart home ecosystem. You will develop production firmware for ARM Cortex-M based modules integrating BLE, WiFi, and Zigbee/Thread connectivity into hubs, sensors, and appliances used in millions of homes worldwide.
You will own firmware features end-to-end: designing wireless protocol stacks, implementing OTA update mechanisms, optimizing power consumption for battery-operated sensors, and debugging multi-protocol coexistence issues. The role involves close collaboration with cloud, mobile app, and hardware teams across Samsung’s global organization.
The ideal candidate has 3+ years of embedded firmware experience, strong C and C++ skills, and hands-on experience with BLE, WiFi, or Zigbee protocol stacks on FreeRTOS. Familiarity with the Matter standard or SmartThings ecosystem is a plus.
