Principal Embedded Engineer

Red Hat’s Embedded Systems team is seeking a principal-level engineer to shape the technical direction of Red Hat Device Edge and our embedded Linux portfolio. You will architect Yocto-based build systems, optimize real-time kernel configurations, and develop secure over-the-air update frameworks for distributed embedded fleets.

As a technical leader, you will drive the adoption of Rust for systems-level components, contribute upstream to open-source projects like the Yocto Project and Zephyr RTOS, and mentor a globally distributed team of embedded engineers. You will work directly with Fortune 500 customers in aerospace, automotive, and industrial automation to define requirements and deliver production-grade solutions.

This remote-first role offers the autonomy of a principal contributor with the backing of the industry’s most respected open-source company. You will publish technical RFCs, speak at conferences, and help define the future of embedded Linux for the enterprise.
