Zephyr RTOS Engineer
Overview
Intel’s Embedded Systems Division is seeking an experienced Zephyr RTOS Engineer to join our platform firmware team in Hillsboro, Oregon. You will architect board support packages (BSPs) and device drivers for Intel’s next-generation RISC-V and x86 embedded processors running Zephyr RTOS. This is an opportunity to shape the real-time foundation of Intel’s IoT and edge computing roadmap.
Your day-to-day will involve writing low-level C/C++ drivers for I2C, SPI, and other peripheral buses, contributing upstream to the Zephyr project, and collaborating with silicon validation teams to bring up new SoCs. You’ll optimize scheduler configurations, power management frameworks, and memory footprints for resource-constrained targets spanning industrial IoT, automotive, and smart infrastructure.
The role sits within a large, cross-functional team of firmware, hardware, and systems engineers. Intel offers a hybrid work model with three days onsite at our Jones Farm campus. Candidates with prior Zephyr upstream contributions, experience with RISC-V platforms, and strong bare-metal debugging skills (JTAG, logic analyzers) will stand out.
