Overview

Ford Motor Company is seeking an Automotive Embedded Engineer to join the Body Electronics team in Dearborn. You will design and implement firmware for body control modules, lighting systems, and power distribution units using FreeRTOS on ARM Cortex-R and Cortex-M microcontrollers. These systems manage critical vehicle functions including door locks, lighting, window controls, and battery management.

You will develop low-level drivers for CAN-FD and LIN communication, implement AUTOSAR-compliant software components, and collaborate with hardware teams on schematic and PCB layout reviews. Your code will run in production vehicles across Ford’s global lineup, requiring adherence to ISO 26262 functional safety standards and rigorous MIL/SIL/HIL validation processes.

The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of embedded systems experience with strong C and C++ proficiency, deep knowledge of CAN and LIN protocols, and hands-on experience with ARM microcontrollers. Familiarity with AUTOSAR, ISO 26262, and automotive SPICE is highly desirable. A degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required.
